Kobre®San Sturgeon Line is our sturgeon feed line for year round use. It is a high quality, runny feed, available in grains of 3, 6 and 8 mm. In order to be able to provide optimal nutrition to the sturgeon, foods specially developed for the sturgeon must be used. Food for sturgeon consists of high quality fishmeal, protein and carbohydrates, supplemented with essential micronutrients (vitamins, minerals and trace elements). The optimum amount of food for sturgeon is 1% of body weight per day.

Since sturgeons have lower mouths (with the exception of Beluga Sturgeon and Spoon Sturgeon), they only get their food from the bottom of the pond, so we feed them accordingly. The food has a strong smell of its own, similar to natural food (insect larvae, worms, molluscs) of fish. Sturgeons should be fed in small amounts as often as possible during the day, as they completely ignore food that has been in the pond for more than an hour. In general, sturgeons should always be fed in the same place and with a clean substrate.

If the sturgeons are kept with the koi carp, the koi carp on the water surface should always be sufficiently fed first, otherwise they will eat the sturgeon food. If so, it should be fed in the dark, as sturgeons tend to be nocturnal. When keeping large Koi, the sturgeon should also be quite large. Another possibility would be the use of a PVC pipe, with the help of which the food is transported past the koi directly to the bottom of the water.
