Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium ™ is an optimized non-corrosive (pH 8.3–8.6) blend of ionic calcium that has been developed to restore calcium and keep it at natural seawater levels. Calcium and carbonates are essential for all coral growth. When both become deficient, coral growth stops, followed by a rapid decline in coral health.

Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium ™ also contains Magnesium and Strontium in amounts proportional to typical usage ratios (100: 5: 0.1, Ca: Mg: Sr). This helps maintain these two important elements while also storing calcium. In contrast to lime water, Reef Advantage Calcium ™ does not have a corrosive pH value and does not consume magnesium. When used as intended, the alkalinity is not impaired.

Direction

Beginner

Use 5g (1 teaspoon) per 150L twice a week. Use Seachem's digital spoon scale for precise dosing. Dissolve in at least 250 ml (1 cup) cold water. Check calcium every 2 weeks and adjust the amount or frequency accordingly.

Advanced

Check calcium levels (use Reef Status ™ Calcium to test magnesium levels) then follow the above schedule until calcium levels are set at 380-420 mg / L. 5 g / 150 L increases calcium by approximately 12 mg / l. The amount or frequency can be set, but must not exceed 10 g / 150 l per day. Then use as needed to maintain calcium.

Expert

After determining calcium consumption, set up a continuous drip system. Use the formula below (or skip the calculation and use our dosage calculator) to determine how much to add to your fill water: m = vc / 400 (m = grams to fill the water, v = tank volume in Liter, c = amount to increase the calcium in mg / l). [For reference: 1 gallon = 3.8 liters, 5 g = 1 teaspoon].

DO NOT OVERDOSE: Too much calcium can increase the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not mix directly with a carbonate preparation. It is best to add calcium and carbonate additives alternately or at least 30 minutes apart.
